CHA Alumni parent, Robert Preston visits with guest speaker, Bob Doll.

“Heavenly Treasures” was the theme of this year’s Spring Benefit & Auction on Saturday, April 22, 2017, a lovely evening that included warm fellowship, exciting auction items, engaging speakers, and an elegant dinner enjoyed by over 300 guests.

Using smart phones, guests were able to bid online for auction items that included weekend get-aways, goods and services, works of art, and special outings and activities with their favorite teachers.

As the program began, an announcement that generous donors had seeded the event with $200,000 towards the evening’s fundraising goal encouraged those in attendance to consider how they might also give generously to support Christian Heritage Academy.

Serving as Emcee, CHA parent and Senior Pastor of Insight Church, Pastor James Ward, encouraged guests and kept the program upbeat and engaging.  Our incoming President, Dr. Hutz Hertzberg introduced his friend and our guest speaker, Mr. Bob Doll, Chief Equity Strategist and Senior Portfolio Manager at Nuveen Asset Management who shared seven vignettes from his personal experiences that spoke to him about his own life priorities and investments for the Kingdom.

Under the direction of Mrs. Eileen Swanson, guests were treated to a performance of The Road Home (by M.D. Browne and S Paulus) by CHA’s Soli Deo high school student choir. Afterward, CHA Upper School Alumna, Miss Diana Tina (Class of 2014) spoke about the impact that the godly teachers at CHA have had on her life and faith, and Miss Ani Christian, CHA 6th grader, shared several aspects of her time at CHA which she treasures.

Dr. Herzberg took the stage again to introduce himself, his wife, Lynne, and their young daughter Hiley, who will be attending CHA’s second grade next year. He briefly shared about his background and how the Lord led him to accept the call to CHA. He and his family will be moving from their current home in Princeton, NJ back to the Chicago area where they had formerly lived. Though Dr. Hertzberg officially begins his new role as President of CHA this coming July 1, he noted that he will be visiting CHA from time to time during this time of transition to become acquainted with the community and our school.

Mr. Mark Elafros, CHA parent, grandparent and former board member encouraged guests to become involved, and to invest their time and resources in CHA which will reap abundant “heavenly treasure.”

We thank Mr. Gil de las Alas, CHA Board President, and Mrs. Keisha Thomas, Co-chairs of the event, as well as the Benefit Team of volunteers who worked to bring all the pieces together to make this beautiful evening a great success. Most of all, we thank the Lord for his outpouring of blessing on this event.
