Boys’ Volleyball Season Finishes Strong!

2019 has been a remarkable year for CHA’s Upper School Boys’ Volleyball team. Led by a cohort of six strong seniors, the Lions fought their way to the playoffs and a regional win on May 20 against St. Viator, winning in 3 sets: 16-25, 25-22, 25-22. As the #19 seed in the IHSA tournament, this victory was the Lions’ most significant win of the season as well as our first regional win in program history. The following night, the Lions went up against the #3 seed, Maine South, a team some schools have called “Goliath”. Having won 11 of their last 12 matches, the Lions charged against their foe in what was to become a see-saw battle from start to finish. The Lions played well, but lost in straight sets 25-18, 25-17; and ultimately saw the end of their season that night. The Lions fought admirably and their entire season was marked by teamwork, sportsmanship and grit, with an unprecedented number of wins (20), sweeping the season series against Wheaton Academy, Lake Forest Academy, Northtown, and Rochelle Zell.

Congratulations to the team on a record-setting season! And many thanks to all Lions fans for the great support this season.
