CHA Lions Athletics Update
Upper School (9th-12th Grades)
Christian Heritage Academy is an approved school by the Illinois High School Association, (IHSA), and through this designation we are excited that our Upper School athletics department is able to partner with the Christian Liberty Academy’s athletics program in Arlington Heights. This enables our athletes to participate and compete in a wide variety of interscholastic sports. This year, the winter sports include boys’ and girls’ basketball.
Upper School home matches are held at Christian Liberty Academy, 502 West Euclid Avenue in Arlington Heights. To view all of the upper school team schedules go to the Illinois 8 to 18 website for Christian Liberty Academy.
Upper School Volleyball – Congratulations Regional Champs!
It was a title bout that lived up to its billing. On Thursday night (Oct. 26) we were matched up against the Warriors from Westminster Christian in the IHSA Regional championship match at Christian Liberty. During the regular season we held the upper hand, but this was the second season – the State Series. The first set was hard fought, but we prevailed 26-24. Westminster answered the challenge by winning the second set 27-25. The deciding set was all ours in a 25-10 victory and the Regional championship. Next up is the Sectional semifinal on Monday at Westminster Christian in Elgin. Our opponent is the #1 seed, Newark HS. The match is at 6:30.
Upper School Soccer
The Upper School Soccer team lost in the IHSA Regional championship match to Northridge Prep 3-0. Congratulations on a great season to Andrew Kim and Ransom Coffeen. The team ended up at 8-11-1 with a strong finish to the season. The team beat Schaumburg Christian in the regional quarter final 3-1 and beat Rochelle Zell in the regional semi-final 5-4 in a shoot-out after double overtime.
Upper School Golf
Congratulations to Luke Tedford on his play in the IHSA Golf State Finals at Prairie Vista Golf Course in Bloomington. Luke is our first golfer to advance to this level of play and he finished in an 8-way tie for 27th place overall.
Upper School Cross Country
Congratulations to Jake Elafros, Timothee and Sehora Ducrozet on a great cross country season. They performed well in the Sectional meet over the weekend in Lisle. Sephora missed qualifying for the State finals by just 6 seconds.
Middle School (6th-8th grades)
All home matches are played at CHA’s campus.
Winter sports include both boys’ and girls’ basketball. Practices have begun and our first games will occur on Thursday, November 9th. Boys’ and girls’ teams will field both a Junior Varsity (JV) and a Varsity team. The JV team consists primarily of 6th and 7th graders, and the Varsity primarily of 8th graders. We participate in the North Shore Independent Conference (NSIC) and play most of the local public school teams, giving us a wonderful opportunity to share God’s light on the public school courts.
