“… so that by God’s will I may come to you with joy and be refreshed in your company.” Romans 15:32
On October 15 & 16, CHA Faculty and Staff gathered at Illinois State Beach Conference Center for a day and a half of enrichment, refreshment and fellowship. In addition to messages from Dr. David Roth, Chief Education Officer; Dr. Ted Magrum, Chief Financial Officer; Mr. Stuart Davis, Chief Operating Officer, and Mr. Bo Jancewicz, Building and Grounds Director; Upper School Teacher, Pastor Steve Farish taught three sessions on the meaning of refreshment as found in Scripture, entitled, “Becoming a Refreshing Christian (by the Grace of God).”
The retreat took place in a beautiful setting within the Illinois Beach State Park along the shores of Lake Michigan in Zion, IL, and the Lord blessed the time with beautiful weather. The schedule allowed for individual quiet times, free time to explore the outdoors or to participate in an activity of choice, times of corporate worship, group games, a bonfire in the evening, and meals shared together. With grateful hearts, our Faculty and Staff members came away refreshed and challenged to be a Christ-like refreshment to others.
We are grateful to the Administration for providing for this time of spiritual and physical refreshment, as well as to those who planned and coordinated the event. Many thanks to our speakers, too, especially to Pastor Farish for so richly blessing us through God’s Word.
