Dear CHA Community:
Please take a few minutes to read important state legislation that, if passed, would restrict the autonomy of Illinois schools to make health and safety decisions in their individual and local context. Rather, if HB2789 is signed into law, the Illinois Department of Public Health would mandate for all schools in Illinois (public, private, and parochial) the required health protocols that must be in place before in-person instruction would be allowed.
Please click the link below from the Illinois Policy organization for more information on this problematic piece of legislation.
Now is the time to write to your Illinois state senator to express your opposition to the legislation. Please note: this is not about public versus private versus parochial schools. Rather it is about all schools having the freedom to do what is in the best interest of their students and staff in their local context.
Please keep this matter in prayer and stay alert to this and other legislation coming out of Springfield.
Sincerely in Christ,
Dr. Hutz H. Hertzberg
