One of the wonderful traditions at CHA for the last several years is the selection of a theme verse for the year for our entire school. The theme verses for the 2017-2018 academic year are taken from Hebrews 12:1-2:
“Therefore, since we are surrounded by so great a cloud of witnesses, let us also lay aside every weight, and sin which clings so closely, and let us run with endurance the race that is set before us, looking to Jesus, the founder and perfecter of our faith, who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is seated at the right hand of the throne of God.”
This is a very appropriate Scripture for us, because as a CHA community, we together are striving to keep “looking to Jesus” in every way and in every area of our school life.
I will have the privilege of speaking on these powerful verses in our First Morning Chapel Service on Tuesday, August 22, at 10:00 AM in the Auditorium. Please join with us in our auditorium for this first all school worship service of the year. (There will be a special Morning Welcome Breakfast in the Student Center for all parents, families and guests from 8:30-9:45 AM.)
Hebrews 12:1-2 will also inform our ongoing chapel services, discipleship ministry, and be a focus both in and outside the classroom throughout the year. I am hoping that many in our school will memorize these Christ-focusing verses this year.
Thank you for your trusted investment of your precious children as we partner together in developing the next generation of Christ followers.
And would you please keep our school in your daily prayers for God’s blessing, protection and faithfulness to our Lord and His Word. By God’s grace, we are looking forward to a great year together!
