In CHA Central

January 2021

Greetings from the PVO!

Welcome back! We are so excited for 2021! CHA wouldn’t be the school we love without our parents and parent volunteers! We have some great parent-volunteer opportunities coming up, and we wanted to share them with you all.  –Rani Nolan, PVO Chair

Lunchroom Volunteers (needed immediately)

CHA is looking to hire someone to help with lunchroom duty, but at the moment, that position has not been filled. Until such time as we can find someone to permanently fill the role, we are looking for some parent volunteers. We need help every day of the week for both lunch periods (11:35am – 1:15pm)

Volunteers will get a brief training and need to go through the Raptor background screening. Additionally, COVID symptom screening will be conducted at the front desk for building entry each time they come in.  Volunteers are not allowed in other parts of the building and will be expected to leave right after the lunch periods.

PVO Fundraiser

On Friday, February 26th, CHA is partnering with City Barbeque, Deerfield (365 Lake Cook Rd.) for a fundraiser for our Faculty and Staff Appreciation week in early May. By using the code FundA prior to your online checkout, or simply showing the image below or the social media post that we’ll put out the week of the event, City Barbeque will donate 20% of the proceeds to CHA.

“Contact me if you need me” List

Occasionally, there are opportunities to volunteer. Usually, someone will contact and ask if anyone is interested. No obligation to participate; this is just an inquiry. Contact Silvia Palacios if interested.

Deep Cleaning Saturday Volunteers

This semester we want to encourage classes to volunteer together for our Saturday Deep Cleanings. We would love to see classes sign up together, if possible – but it is ok if you sign up for a day not “designated” for your class! You can serve as a family, or one parent/one child. What a fun way to serve, and be able to get to know parents and kids in your classes and other classes! To get both levels of the school sanitized, we need a minimum of 8 volunteers. However, we can have up to 12 people volunteer safely.

Review Library Books

Read and review books for our library. These would be chapter books of various lengths and genres, and there’s a Google form to fill out afterwards. Librarian Barb Mack will use this information to make a better choice if this book is a good fit for our library. Contact Librarian Barb Mack for more information.

Late Spring Outdoor Volunteers

We have some outdoor beautification projects in the works for late Spring. If you enjoy the outdoors and would like to help, please contact PVO.
