Justice Hagedorn

Please note: Due to the COVID-19 crisis, CHA’s Commencement ceremony, including our featured speaker, Justice Hagedorn, has been postponed to a date that is yet to be determined.

Dear CHA Family,

I am delighted to announce that Wisconsin Supreme Court Justice Brian Hagedorn will be the featured speaker at Christian Heritage Academy’s Commencement service on Saturday, May 30, 2020.

As a dedicated follower of Jesus Christ, Justice Hagedorn exemplifies the kind of thoughtful engagement with the culture that we desire to instill in the young men and women we graduate from CHA. I anticipate he will challenge our thinking as to how Christians can impact our society for Christ.

A strong believer in Christian education, Brian and his wife Christina, founded a Christian school, Augustine Academy in Delafield, Wisconsin, where they currently serve as board members. They are strong advocates for schools like Christian Heritage Academy.

Justice Hagedorn has lived out the experience of standing faithfully for Christ in the public square. He was elected to the Wisconsin Supreme Court in April 2019. During the campaign he faced a visceral assault on his fitness for office, largely based upon his Christian convictions on core matters of faith and practice. An insightful Decision Magazine article (published by the Billy Graham Evangelistic Association) describes the outpouring of personal animosity he experienced, and the gracious and balanced manner in which he handled these attacks. You can read the article here and I hope you will take the time to do so.

Prior to his elevation to Wisconsin’s highest court, Justice Hagedorn served on the state Court of Appeals. Before that he was Chief Legal Counsel to Governor Scott Walker, and through his career has held a range of legal positions, including in private practice at one of Milwaukee’s largest law firms.

Justice Hagedorn is a graduate of Northwestern University School of Law, and received his B.A. in philosophy from Trinity International University in Deerfield, Illinois, where he graduated summa cum laude, with honors. In 2014, he was named Trinity International University Alumnus of the Year. Brian and Christina have been married for 18 years and are the parents of five children, ages 16, 14, 12, 9, and 6.

We look forward to warmly welcoming Justice Hagedorn to Christian Heritage Academy.

Sincerely,

Dr. Hutz H. Hertzberg
President
