Upper School Basketball:

  • Our US Varsity Boys staged another heart-pumping come-from-behind rally during the 4th quarter of the Feb. 18 IHSA tournament game against Walther Christian, a more aggressive, taller, and experienced team. Upper School Basketball:

Congratulations to our Upper School basketball teams…they’re on fire!

  • In the span of just over one week, our girls have had two important wins. They were unbeaten in the Lake Shore Athletic League during the regular season, and continued that streak throughout the conference tournament. On February 3rd, the team raised the championship trophy following a win over Intrinsic Charter School 33-22. The girls opened up IHSA Regional quarterfinal play this past Saturday against Beacon Academy. At the end of the 1st quarter, the Lady Lions led 14-8. At the half, we had taken control of the game and held a comfortable lead at 25-10. The final score was 49-21. We were led in scoring by Ani Christian with 20 points and Isabel Ha with 11. The win earned us a berth in the Regional semifinal on Feb. 14 at Lycee Francais. Tip-off is set for 7:30 against North Shore Country Day.
  • The boys also experienced the thrill of winning a Lake Shore Athletic League Championship. During the course of the regular season we only had two losses. One of the losses was against #2 seed Beacon Academy, and one was against the unbeaten, #1 seed Intrinsic Charter School. In the semifinal on Wednesday against Beacon Academy, we had an unbelievable mountain to climb. We were down 20 at halftime, but fought all the way back and eventually won 75-69. In the championship game, there were 10 lead changes, but down the stretch we hit our free throws and hung on to win 54-50. Flavius Ardelean led us in scoring, while Benji Clayton chipped in 10. This week we will play our IHSA Regional quarterfinal game in Melrose Park against Walther Christian at noon on Saturday, February 18.
