Join TC Boost’s Tommy Christian, one of the top sports performance coaches in the nation, for this 90-minute per day Strength & Conditioning camp. Learn proper speed and agility mechanics in a way that will transfer to your sport. Emphasis is placed on injury prevention and education in proper training techniques and progression. Jump training and strength training will also be addressed as well as effective warm-up and mobility exercises.

Band Camp offers a fun, musical experience! It is a great way to keep up with your instrument skills over the summer and develop musicianship with fundamentals, theory and a variety of rich repertoire. Students will grow from performing, rehearsing and collaborating with their peers in a nurturing environment. Students also have the option to perform solos and/or chamber music. There will be a recital and celebration at the end of the program. Students must have at least 2 years of playing experience. Non-CHA students may need to audition. Campers are required to bring their own instrument.

Come explore the sweeter side of chemistry as campers learn about candy-making and the chemistry involved as well as a little Chicago candy history. Students will create and taste several different types of candy and investigate the processes that make its texture, taste and sweetness.

How is the justice system organized, what goes on in a courtroom and how is the law applied? Learn about our American system of justice and the structure of our laws, including criminal, civil and constitutional law. Students will have the opportunity to argue portions of a case as it would be done in a real courtroom.

Learn the basics of speech and debate by signing up for a full-day Speech & Debate Summer Camp. Students will learn basic skills from friendly instructors in a hands-on, practical and energetic environment. Mornings will be focused on the various types of speeches while afternoons will be focused on learning a fun and widely applicable form of debate. See below for additional information.

Learn to communicate confidently, persuasively and passionately at this week-long speech camp covering platform, dramatic, humorous and impromptu speeches. Learn how to bring characters to life, engage your audience, express your point of view and put your heart into your speaking, while having fun in a fast-paced, energetic, collaborative coaching environment. Students will participate in numerous fun and engaging activities throughout the week and prepare their own speeches for a mini-speech tournament at the end of the week. Students are encouraged to also enroll in the afternoon debate camp as a complement to this program.

Parliamentary Debate Camp: Debate with Style & Substance

If you want an opportunity to learn how to think on your feet and speak confidently about a wide range of topics, parliamentary debate may be for you! This camp will teach you one of the most popular forms of debate and equip you with both the theory and skills to participate in nearly any other form of debate. Students will learn to research a topic, build logical arguments and respond quickly to an opposing position with sound logic and confidence. Get up to speed quickly with practical exercises, fun activities and helpful and experienced instructors. Students will be able to participate in several debate rounds towards the end of the week. Students are encouraged to also enroll in the morning speech camp as a complement to this program.

Creative Drama Camp is a collaborative process that develops imaginative thought and creative expression in children. Students will have fun while playing improvisational games, exploring the elements of clowning and story, and experimenting with movement and sound in the creation of character. Students will soak up important life skills, such as stage presence, voice projection, body control, social awareness, problem-solving, teamwork, and connection to their audience.

One of our favorite adventures is of a young woman who finds her own voice and forges her own identity. “Moana” has dazzling visuals, catchy tunes, enjoyable performances, clever running gags and an overall sense of fun. Improv Playhouse offers this two-week camp for kids who love to perform, who want to develop their musical theater skills or the shy ones who may want to come out of their shell.  Students will strengthen skills through exploration of acting.

In this two-week camp, campers will gain knowledge in many aspects of the filmmaking process from Improv Playhouse staff. Our Filmmaking Camp Directors are chosen from professional ranks and some of the top filmmaking schools in the nation. Campers are engaged in developmentally appropriate and family friendly themes as well as  important elements of pre-production, production and post-production. Hands on filmmaking techniques through digital technology and professional hardware and software are utilized. Involvement in storyboarding, shot list creation, casting, shooting and digital film editing are selected as focus opportunities for campers best fitting their present skills and interests.
