Requirements for Faculty Positions

CHA offers an exemplary education with a biblical worldview for preschool through high school, and equips children to be lifetime followers of Jesus Christ. Candidates for teaching positions should be experienced, creative, and highly qualified “Living Curriculum Teachers” who have a growing relationship with Christ, are excellent in their field, and are capable of inspiring students to reach their God-given potential.

REQUIREMENTS

  • Follower of Jesus Christ, who seeks to live all of life under His Lordship.
  • Spiritual maturity, with academic and leadership abilities that will enable him/her to teach all truth as God’s truth.
  • Demonstrated heart for the mission of Christian Heritage Academy and the advancement of Christian education.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Education from an accredited college or university or hold an Illinois Professional Educator License with appropriate endorsement.
  • Minimum of 2-3 years of relevant teaching experience.
  • Willingness to pursue ACSI (Association of Christian Schools International) certification.
  • An ability to maintain discretion and absolute confidentiality.
  • Excellent communications and interpersonal skills, including the ability to maintain a courteous and respectful attitude in all situations.
  • The ability and desire to work in a team-oriented environment in a supportive, transparent and solution-driven fashion.
  • Proficiency in Google Suite and Microsoft Office programs.

STAFF / SUPPORT ROLES

Space Sharing Supervisor

The Space Sharing Supervisor is responsible for overseeing space sharers on site, monitoring the building and grounds, and supervising events and/or activities to ensure the space sharing policy is followed during non-school hours. The Space Sharing Supervisor adheres to the daily task checklist to keep the building safe, secure, and in good condition during the events/activities.

Work hours: Sundays, 7 AM – 5 PM, with the possibility of extra hours based on the event/activity.

Pay rate: $17 per hour.

Preschool / Kindergarten Assistant

We are looking for a morning and an afternoon Teacher Assistant to join our Early Ed team! If you love working with young children, this is a great opportunity to pour into these precious lives in their formative years. Training will be provided. Those working 20 or more hours a week (which will include lunchroom support) are eligible for an up to 50% tuition discount for the oldest child enrolled at CHA. Eligibility for financial assistance may be available for other children but not the oldest child. The pay rate is $15 per hour. 

Morning Shift: 7:45 AM – 1:30 PM

Afternoon Shift: 11:15 AM – 3:45 PM

Candidates must have a demonstrated commitment to the Christian faith as outlined in CHA’s Statement of Faith, have experience working with young children, and have a high school diploma or equivalent.

Business Services Associate (Part-Time, Hourly)

The Business Services Associate (BSA) acts as a liaison between CHA’s business office and the accounting firm (PBM&A), parents, and employees of CHA. While PBM&A will process accounts payables, receivables, donations, payroll, and financial reporting, the BSA will provide support and approvals for the aforementioned functions. The BSA reports to the Business Director (BD).

Requirements:

  • A demonstrated commitment to the Christian faith as outlined in the Academy’s Statement of Faith and active participation in a local church congregation.
  • A demonstrated heart for the advancement and development of Christian education and the Mission of Christian Heritage Academy. 
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills, with the ability to work in an efficient and effective manner to meet required deadlines. 
  • Ability to multi-task and deal with a high level of detail in an accurate, thorough, timely and well-organized manner. 
  • A Bachelor’s or Associate’s degree in business, accounting or finance preferred or a minimum of one year of accounting/bookkeeping experience. 
  • Considerable flexibility and adaptability to the changing needs of the department and/or school. 
  • Ability to maintain discretion and absolute confidentiality in all matters.
  • Proficiency in Excel, Google suite, with experience in tuition management system or school data information system and other applicable software. Ready to work in a paperless environment. 
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, including the ability to maintain a courteous and respectful attitude in all situations.

Accounts Payable and Receivables:

  • Review and approve weekly payables and receivables. When necessary, answer questions from PBM&A and provide them with appropriate documentation. 
  • Handle inquiries from parents, space sharers, vendors, and staff regarding payments, tuition, credits, and auto-pay set up.
  • Coordinate with PBM&A payment processing for Procurement Card expenses.
  • Research, process, and distribute purchasing items requested by faculty, administrators, lunchroom, etc.
  • Process monthly tuition and fees. Provide tuition refunds such as for student withdrawals. 
  • Process non-standard payments for mission trips and field trips. 
  • Process cash and check deposits into the Veracross accounting system and make weekly bank deposits.
  • Assist with annual 1099 processing.  

Payroll (biweekly):

  • Confirm accuracy of payroll data and provide approval to PBM&A to complete payroll processing.
  • Reconcile payroll benefit deductions with insurance invoices. 
  • Onboard new employees into the payroll system.

Donations:

  • Work with the Capital Campaign Manager to ensure thank you and annual giving letters are sent in a timely manner.
  • Work with the Capital Campaign Manager to ensure data for all giving constituencies are accurately entered into relevant software programs.
  • Work with Capital Campaign Manager to create and mail year-end giving history reports for all donors.
  • Use accounting firm (PBM&A) monthly donation reports to print annual donation summaries and monthly thank you letters/receipts in coordination with the Capital Campaign Manager.

Other Responsibilities:

  • Assist with entering the annual budget into Veracross and running monthly budget reports. 
  • Participate in arrival and dismissal duties.
  • Manage the purchasing of supplies for the school storage room and general office.
  • Perform other duties as assigned. Such tasks may include:
    • With guidance from BD, effectively produce, send, and address parent communications related to financial matters.
    • Under direction of BD, develop and maintain the school’s billing efficiency by collaborating with various staff to create registrations, ticketing, and other program or event fees in the school’s data information system. 
    • Support Human Resource related reporting needs, such as non-discrimination testings, 401(k) plan reporting requirements and reconciliation of insurance invoices with employee payroll withholding amounts.
    • Assist with benefit plans and other administrative tasks.
Events & Communications Coordinator

Christian Heritage Academy in Northfield has an immediate opening for a full-time Events and Communications Coordinator. The Events and Communications Coordinator assists with communications and marketing efforts and coordinates and promotes events in order to effectively communicate the school’s mission and increase engagement.

Requirements:

  • A demonstrated commitment to the Christian faith as outlined in the Academy’s Statement of Faith and active participation in a local church congregation.
  • A demonstrated heart for the advancement and development of Christian education and the Mission of Christian Heritage Academy.
  • A Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university, preferably with a major or concentration in business administration, communications, hospitality, marketing, or a related field is preferred.
  • Competency in event management and graphic design, in addition to capacity for written communication, social media, photography, and copywriting.
  • An ability to generate creative ideas for promoting and facilitating community engagement.
  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks and strict deadlines.
  • An ability to maintain discretion and absolute confidentiality in all matters.
  • Excellent communications and interpersonal skills, including the ability to maintain a courteous and respectful attitude in all situations, especially in working with volunteers.
  • The ability and desire to work in a team-oriented environment in a supportive, transparent and solution-driven fashion.
  • Proficiency in Google Suite. Experience with Adobe Creative Suite and school management systems preferred.

Marketing & Communications Responsibilities:

  • Produce inward-facing official school communications which may include emails, Veracross portal content, and weekly newsletters to current families.
  • Create, edit, and/or design (including graphics) other school event programs and booklets and official school documents.
  • Maintain assigned portions of the CHA website;  update content regularly.
  • Produce digital and printed marketing materials. 
  • Strategically schedule and create effective content for social media channels to increase engagement.  
  • Build CHA brand awareness/visibility through online Spirit Store, banners, displays, graduation yard signs, etc.
  • Procure, catalog, and archive candid photographs that capture the stories of CHA.
  • Assist with advertising, communication, and publicity of school events and programs, videography projects, or external communications and press releases.
  • Maintain strategic visual communications tools, such as rotator slides and bulletin board in the glass hallway.
  • Collaborate with Go! Week team to create communications schedules and publicity.

Special Events, Programs, and Activities Responsibilities:

  • With vision and direction from the leadership team, plan and execute school-wide special events and programs such as Family Gathering, Convocation, and Homecoming. 
  • Create and manage budgets for special events.
  • Produce (collaboratively, as needed) print and digital materials for events and programs, such as advertisements, programs, registration sign ups, promotional signage, screens, awards, and diplomas.
  • Collaborate with Registrar, program/activity leads, and accounting department to create online order, registration, and donation forms for activities and programs.
  • Solicit PVO support to recruit, coordinate and supervise volunteers for events and programs, including set up, take down and clean up.  
  • Communicate with Facilities Director, Space Sharing Coordinator, Receptionist, and Auditorium Manager on events and programs needs.
  • Provide hospitality and/or communications/publicity support for Development, PVO, and Admissions special events, all-school chapels, beginning-of-year Board breakfast, and end-of-year Faculty & Staff luncheon.
  • Maintain the kitchen storage area and supplies, third floor storage closet, and marketing and communications closet. 
  • Assist PVO with logistical needs for school-wide events; attend periodic/quarterly meetings and report back to relevant administrators on any follow up items. Work with the admin team to foster effective PVO engagement within the school community.

Other Projects and Responsibilities:

  • Facilitate appropriate seasonal decorations at key entry points and throughout campus.
  • Cover the front desk during lunch and summer.
  • Participate in arrival and dismissal duties.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Substitute Teacher

The role of a substitute teacher is to be a competent, temporary replacement for the classroom teacher. In addition to a personal faith in Jesus Christ, prospective candidates should hold a Bachelor’s degree, preferably in Education, and have experience working with children in an educational setting. Qualified candidates must be able to manage a classroom, actively engage with the students, and have a willingness to follow the plans established by the classroom teacher. The pay rate is $15.00 per hour.
