FORMING THE FUTURE

In Grades 1-5, critical thinking, study skills, creativity and character training are incorporated into the educational experience using godly principles to direct the students.

Greater independence and ownership of learning are expected each year and training in executive functioning provides successful study skills and organization. As our highly-qualified teachers foster the unique gifts and abilities God has given to each child, they also encourage students to engage in challenges.

Educating with Excellence

Lower School curriculum includes a hands-on approach in science using Mystery Science; formal phonics instruction and reading groups in lower elementary grades using Saxon Phonics and StoryTown Basal Readers by Harcourt; a literature-based reading program in upper elementary grades; Singapore Math, where students learn how to think mathematically rather than rote memorization; and Building on the Rock by Summit Ministries which helps lay the groundwork for a biblical worldview. Planting Seeds of Faith

By creating rich environments for prayer, worship, creativity, inquiry, and understanding, these Living Curriculum teachers invite God’s presence in our elementary classrooms on a daily basis. Significant emphasis is placed on helping Lower School students develop into the Expected Student Outcomes (ESOs) of Exploring God’s Diverse World; Thinking Creatively, Critically, and Collaboratively; Walking in God’s Ways; and Seeking & Speaking the Truth.
