FAQs
For your convenience, we’ve assembled some of the questions parents most often ask below. Of course, we are always glad to talk with you personally to answer your questions about CHA. Please begin with this family profile, schedule a campus visit, or call us at 847-446-5252.
Your children spend the best eight of their waking hours in school, where their minds and worldview are influenced by teachers, peers, books, and curriculum. By the time they graduate, they will have spent over 18,000 hours in school. These hours shape your children’s thoughts, habits, character and future. As parents, we must ask ourselves critically important questions about our child’s schooling, such as those found in Choosing a School – A Guide for Christian Parents.
At Christian Heritage Academy, we approach teaching as a ministry and as a stewardship, valuing the school day as an opportunity to invest in your child. All of our efforts, both in and out of the classroom, support our vision: that every CHA student is rooted in a deep love for God, known within our community, engaged in educational excellence, and inspired to make a difference.
We invite you to explore what this looks like in person by visiting CHA!
Christian Heritage Academy is a non-denominational, independent school, with families from 170 congregations and 40 communities. In order to maintain our unity in Christ, our admissions policy requires that at least one parent of every family agrees with our Statement of Faith and acknowledges himself/herself to be a believer in Jesus Christ. Our Admissions policy also requires that each family regularly attends or is a member of a local Christian church. We believe this three-way partnership (parents-school-church) is the best way to equip children with the best foundation for becoming lifetime followers of Jesus Christ. For more clarity, please feel free to contact our Admissions Office. We’d be glad to answer your questions.
Yes. CHA strives to maintain excellence in all areas of its programs and operations. We hold ourselves accountable to the rigorous standards set by accrediting organizations and membership agencies, and submit to their regular examination processes. These include:
- Association of Christian Schools International (ACSI) – Accredited member – K-8 since 1992, Upper School since 2009
- Cognia, formerly AdvancEd Accreditation Commission by the North Central Association Commission – Accredited since 2002
- Illinois State Board of Education (ISBE) – Continuous recognition since 1996
- Illinois High School Association (IHSA) – Full membership since 2012
Educators at Christian Heritage Academy hold a minimum of a bachelor’s degree in education from an accredited college or university or hold an Illinois Professional Educator License with appropriate endorsement. They also hold ACSI (Association of Christian Schools International) certification. Many of our faculty hold master’s and doctoral degrees, as well.
All of our teachers are considered “Living Curriculum” teachers—highly qualified, spiritually mature Christian educators who model Christ-likeness both in the classroom and throughout daily school life. The result has been not only outstanding academic performance and college preparation but students who love God and are equipped to serve others and make a kingdom impact with their lives.
Our hallmark at Christian Heritage Academy is the biblical integration that teachers bring into each subject area, helping students develop a biblical worldview as well as strong skills in critical thinking, research, effective writing, speaking and rhetoric. This integration takes our already excellent academics to a whole new level.
In our Upper School, CHA offers many Advanced Placement (AP) and dual-credit courses. Graduates are well-prepared for distinguished colleges through the rigorous and rich educational experience at CHA.

Upper School students compete in IHSA’s Lake Shore Athletic League (LSAL) with various teams throughout Northeastern Illinois. Upper School sports include: Boys’ & Girls’ Soccer, Boys’ & Girls’ Volleyball, and Boys’ & Girls’ Basketball.
Middle School students participate in the North Shore Independent Conference against feeder middle school teams from the New Trier School District. Sports offered for Middle School students include: Co-ed Soccer, Boys’ & Girls’ Volleyball, Boys’ & Girls’ Basketball, and Co-ed Track.
Of private schools that are not supported by a church or parish, CHA is the most affordable private school in the area. Read more about the inclusive nature of our variable rate tuition here.
Christian Heritage Academy is committed to offering financial aid to families that have demonstrated need in order for their children to attend. Such full-time students in grades K-12 may receive up to 50% off net tuition. In special circumstances, you may qualify for even more through CHA’s Special Assistance Fund, subject to available funds. If other discounts are available to a student, the maximum combination of all financial aid and discounts is up to 75% of a student’s tuition. Learn more here. Additionally, CHA offers multi-child discounts as well as employee discounts.
At CHA, we do not offer financial aid for students in preschool. Since preschool education is not legally required for families, we encourage families to apply for assistance once their child is enrolled in full-time kindergarten. Similarly, our multi-child discount applies once the child is enrolled as a full-time kindergartner.
