College Coundown Checklist

Grade 9
  • Focus on getting good grades! Your GPA starts now
  • Consider taking the ACT and/or SAT
  • Register on scholarship websites
  • Get involved in a variety of activities to find out what interests you 
  • Take a practice ACT test
Grade 10
  • Make good grades a priority – your GPA continues to grow
  • Register at scholarship websites
  • Consider taking the ACT and/or SAT
  • Take the practice ACT and the PSAT test
  • Start thinking about careers that interest you
  • Utilize your two college visit days
  • Continue to participate in extracurricular activities
Grade 11
  • Remember, GPA at the end of 2nd Semester goes on your applications!
  • Attend college fairs
  • Take the PSAT in October
  • Make a list of about 10 potential colleges
  • Meet with the college representatives that visit our school
  • Consider Early Decision deadlines
  • Utilize your three college visit days
  • Start thinking about possible majors
  • Get involved in a variety of areas – it helps to be well-rounded
  • Take the ACT and/or SAT test
  • Register at scholarship websites
  • Meet with the college representatives that come to our school
Grade 12
  • Grades still matter. Schools require a final transcript
  • Attend college fairs
  • Choose a general area of study (assists in college selection)
  • Utilize your three college visit days
  • Narrow your choices to the top five schools
  • Send applications by deadlines
  • Take the ACT or SAT until you are satisfied, but no later than December!
  • File your FAFSA form in October
  • Meet with the college representatives that come to our school
