This past weekend freshman Micah Chiong competed in the Illinois High School Association (IHSA) State Series for Boys’ Golf, representing CHA with excellence in skill and Christlike character.

The road to the finals started with a trip to the Golf Club of Illinois in Algonquin on September 30. It was a perfect day, and Micah shot an 81 which qualified him to move on to the sectional tournament in Byron. This round took place on October 4 at the Prairieview Golf Course.

Micah rose to the occasion to meet the next level of competition, finishing the day at 80 and qualifying for the state finals in Bloomington. This phase of the tournament was held at the Prairie Vista Golf Course. On the opening day of the finals, Micah fired a 77 and earned a berth in the championship round to be played on Saturday.

Micah shot an 80 on the final day for a total of 157 over the two days, placing him in 26th position.

CHA Athletic Director Jeff Cook said, “Congratulations to Micah on a job well done. We look forward to what he will accomplish over the rest of his high school career.”
